LOUIS J. GODRY

Louis was called to the bar in 2011. His practice is primarily in the area of family and domestic law including: divorce, separation, custody, maintenance, family property, adoptions, guardianship applications, interjurisdictional support orders, including maintenance suspensions and variations, as well as cohabitation, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements. 


Louis has extensive experience in high conflict domestic proceedings including Emergent Hearings and related custody and child abduction matters.  Louis is a strong advocate for, and has experience with, proceedings involving issues of parental alienation.    


Additional areas of practice include child protection matters, including guardianship and grandparent access matters attached to child protection proceedings.   
Prior to entering the practice of law Louis was a teacher, adult educator and postsecondary instructor, including 10 years of instructing at Cross Lake Manitoba (Pimicikamak Cree Nation).    


Previous instructional experience for Louis includes being employed as an adjunct professor at University College of The North and Brandon University. 


In 2016 Louis was inducted into the University of Guelph Athletic Hall of Fame; in 1986 he was awarded the Canadian Inter-University Athletic Union, J.P. Metras Trophy (best down lineman in Canadian University football); Canadian Inter-University Athletic Union, All Canadian 1986-1987; Male Athlete of the Year, University of Guelph 1986; one of two Canadians selected to participate in the East West Shrine Bowl in Palo Alto California in January of 1987; and, played as an offensive guard for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the 1987 season.
